Why the World Losing Trees Matter
Image result for deforestation

The U.S. is losing approximately 36 million trees every year. This has many adverse effects on the environment. There have already been many signs. For example, last year's summer was record breaking in terms of temperature. Trees are scientifically proven to affect the temperature and can lower the temperature by as much as 10 degrees fahrenheit. The loss of trees does not only affect the temperature, but the atmosphere as well. The annual loss of trees and the increasing loss of trees has a negative effect on the air quality. The study they did reveals that, based upon the trees role in pollution and energy, the loss of trees costs the U.S. about $96 million a year. Trees also have other positive effects like, reducing flooding, water quality improvement, and they provide habitats for animals. The more we continue to decimate our wildlife, the worse our environment will get. We should try to plant more trees around the world and protect the ones we have.

Do you think that laws should be made to protect trees, and if so what kind of laws?
How do you think the international community is responsible for deforestation and the preservation of wildlife?
With climate change gaining more and more attention, how do you think the response to deforestation will change?

  1. I think that there should be laws put in place to help protect he trees and to limit the amount tress that are big cut down. They can make laws harder by making requiring permits and license to be able to cut down trees. they can also make the perms less accessible to the public. I think now that climate change has become a bigger issue and there is more knowledge about it that deforestation will also become a greater issue with the public and the government.

  2. With climate change gaining more attention, I think some people may be willing to change their habits such as using less fossil fuels and more renewable energy. People may become more willing to protect their environment than before by adapting laws and rules to preserve the wildlife. In addition, I think states or countries should regularly patrol the forest area and watch for any suspicious activity.

  3. Deforestation will definitely get more attention as the affects of climate change worsen. I think it is easier for people to support shutting down deforestation and planting more trees because it is low cost and something that is very effective to slow down global warming. I talked about this previously with peers and they agreed that supporting the planting of trees is much more cost friendly compared to switching to solar power or buying an electric car. This is something everyone can do without having to worry about money.

  4. The problem with climate change is large and powerful corporations and unnecessary politics. The large corporations that pollute the earth for a profit have no to little checks on the damage that they are doing due to how partisan the issue has become. There is no question that climate change should be a nonpartisan issue, though politicians influenced by lobbyists from those corporations work to prevent that. They prevent real change that might damage profits in their industry, such as the oil, coal, or logging industry, but do so at a great price to the rest of the world.

  5. I think that there should definitely be more laws protecting trees. There can possibly be laws like you can only cut down a certain amount of trees in this area and have to replant within a certain amount of time.

  6. i believe that laws should be made for the deforestation of trees to be limited for only industrial work. Also i believe that the government will definitely change some laws since the recent increase in global warning

  8. I definitely think there should be a law to protect trees because they have such a huge impact on protecting the earth from the sun. Without trees you could consider earth a dessert. Not only that but animals turn trees into their homes. If I would to make a law it we be the Protect Mother Nature law.
